This morning, students and teachers alike gathered on the turf in somber remembrance of the victims of the Douglas shooting in Parkland, Florida. Senior Lizzie Stacks, the president of the Social Justice Club, stood in front of the crowd to read the names and short biographies of the 17 victims — one each minute. As she read the names, silence took over the roughly 300 people who attended. Parents and other supporters could also be seen in the crowd with posters, showing their support for the students’ movement. Throughout the process, Rangeview’s administration has been in support of the students; campus monitors and administrators were present to make sure the demonstration remained peaceful and safe. For more information on how to contribute and show support for the movement, talk to Lizzie Stacks or attend the Social Justice Club meetings on Mondays after school in room 245B.
