As January comes to an end, there are a multitude of movies and music that have been released.

Movies:

As Thor: Ragnarok earned at least $800,000,000 worldwide, Marvel is planning on releasing Black Panther on February 15th. The movie is based around the superhero Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman, and Michael B. Jordan who plays the villain Killmonger.

Black Panther is said to have a cast that is 90% African American, the first to take place within a professional superhero film. Tickets are available for pre-order here. (Photo provided by Deadline)

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler, who also directed movies such as Fruitvale Station and Creed. The plot of this movie revolves around T’Challa (Black Panther) returning to Wakanda to become the new king. As a new enemy resurfaces, T’Challa must deal with this enemy as the fate of Wakanda is put to the test.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure premiered in theaters on January 26th. It features actors and actresses such as Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, and Will Poulter. (Photo provided by Following the Nerd)

Junior Adewale Solanke said, “The trailer looks very interesting and I enjoy it. I love that Black Panther is set in Africa compared to other Marvel movies that take place in the U.S.”

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the third installment in the Maze Runner series and is directed by Wes Ball, who has directed the other Maze Runner movies.

The third installment of the Maze Runner series revolves around Thomas, a Glader who leads a team of other Gladers as they encounter their deadliest mission yet.

Junior Elias Rodriguez said, “I hope the third movie isn’t disappointing and is a loyal adaptation to the book. The second movie was disappointing to me, but the first one was pretty accurate and enjoyable.”

Music:
No Limit was originally released on September 8th, 2017. (Provided by Genius)

G-Eazy is an American Rapper and producer who recently released No Limit. The song is currently #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart.

Junior Jasmine Bowman said, “It’s a song that I could play on the radio and bump my head to, but it’s not necessarily a song I would add to my playlist and play that often.”

Drake is a leading artist that has released a multitude of songs such as Hotline Bling, One Dance, Started From The Bottom, etc. God’s Plan was a single released on January 20th from his EP Scary Hours, and is predicted to reach #1 in the Billboard Hot 100 Chart this week.

Senior Kuleni Abdo said, “God’s Plan is alright, but can be quite repetitive at times. Some of his older songs are a lot better than God’s Plan and the line that everyone keeps quoting isn’t that serious.”

The movies and music listed above have either been released, or will come out in the following weeks or months.
